Appearance

  • Adult — 2–3mm in length. Humped thorax. Elytra (wings cases) are smooth.
  • Larva - very similar to the Biscuit beetle.

Lifecycle

  • Life cycle — 25 days at 30–35°C. Unlikely to develop below 17°C. Adults live for 2 to 6 weeks.

Habits

  • Will often fly.
  • Will infest a wide product range including tobacco, cereals, pulses, dried fruit and spices.
