Appearance
- Many different species. 7–50mm in length.
- Narrow and cylindrical with many body segments
- Each body segment has two pairs of legs 17–100 pairs of legs.
Lifecycle
- Eggs are deposited in clusters in the soil and immature stages pass through several moults over about 2 years.
Habits
- Millipedes feed on plants and damp/decaying vegetable matter. They roll into a spiral when disturbed.
- Usually found outdoors.
